We're looking at buying a house that has a conservatory on the back, we're not a fan of them and would prefer a larger garden. Only problem I can see with demolishing it is that the external house wall than was inside the conservatory has been plastered.
How easy is it to remove the plaster? Will the bricks under the plaster look significantly different through fading etc?

Oh, and is it possible to sell used conservatories? It looked to be in good condition.

if you get all the measurements before you take it down then it should be possible to sell it. Maybe get some pallets to arrange it all on ready.

As for the wall - I wonder if sand blasting to clean off the old plaster will work? (after SDS chiselling it all off first).

Are you sure its plastered? It might have been dry lined.

Plaster can be removed by scabbling with a needle gun

The brickwork will look different to start, but after time will weather to match the exsting. Or you could just render the whole elevation.

Steady on there.....

Do you know its definately brick underneath? Modern housebuilders will build an external skin in block if they know it will be rendered or plastered. What is the finish on the rest of the elevation?

If the conservatory was a bolt on option or put up after the house then you are probably ok, but test a small area first.....

Get a ****-off, great big, pneumatic jack-hammer and get stuck in. Nothing could possibly go wrong, but just to make sure; have a shedload of beer before you start
