Evening,
Wife's laptop (Acer Aspire 7736G) appears to have died - sitting this morning watching a DVD with daughter and it switched off - no power and won't start up...suspect there is a failure with the power system somewhere but I'm wanting to remove the hard drive so I can copy the content onto an external hard drive and at least get access to the content.
I've had a nosey round the web and I can't find anything showing me how to remove the actual hard drive from the system...has anyone done it and if so - how? Or has anyone found a site on the web where it tells you how to do this?
Also, what do I need to connect it up to my desktop so it will appear as a second hard drive so I can then copy it from it to the external drive?
Thanks.
There should be a couple of panels underneath the laptop, one for ram and the other for the hhd. Normally you remove the panel and pop the hdd out.
Found it...it was sitting in a caddy that I managed to remove...now just need to find adapters to allow me to plug it into the desktop system to get access to the content...
If you have got a spare SATA lead you can plug it straight into your pc's motherboard.
EDIT - Glad you're sorted, as you were.
