Can anyone help?

Lad needs new front tyres on a citroen Cactus but I want to confirm the size and rating on them are right.

Rear has "W XL" rating.

Fronts just "V"

All are 205/50 R17

Thanks guys.👍

Just bang the reg number into black circles. Will tell you what tyre size, load and speed rating.

Failing that you'll need to find a copy of the car manual.

RTFM...

A Citroën cactus won't need tyres rated XL (load rating) so a big volvo fully loaded might benefit, or a van.
Suspect there's only XL tyres on there as the previous owner got a good deal on them.

Nothing wrong specifically with buying tyres above the recommended spec.

Big problem if you buy tyres lower spec than the manufacturer recommended.

"w" or "v" is the speed rating of the tyre, I can't remember the numbers from the top of my head, but "v" is fairly standard, and "w" is rated for higher speeds.
I don't think either would be an issue on a Citroën.

Just checking guys, putting XL tyres on would be ok? (Rest of tyre spec equal to or above recommended by citroen.)

Most of best deals are rated XL for some reason.

Any negatives on fitting them, harsher ride etc?

XL will be fine. With Citroen soft suspension you are unlikely to feel any difference.

Most stuff now seems to be XL as standard
