So last night I sat with the Radio Times, trying to get my Humax to record all the good stuff that's on for the next week or so while I'm away visiting family dotted around the country. Once I got beyond next Thusday though, I couldn't access anything on the TV guide. Is it normal only to be able to record a week in advance? (apart from series)

Same box, same issue.
Last week we couldn't 'search' for things on christmas eve. Now we can. I think it needs to update the guide.
Now we can see pretty far in advance.

BTW - have you had the new update for TV portal - seems to run a bit smoother.

Sky only ever had 1 week on the EPG too. Not sure about Sky+ - never used that. Assume Freesat and/or Freeview is similar? (ie is an EPG thing rather than a box feature)

You should be able to set the date, time etc manually though

Totally off the top of my head ......

I think you select a blank space in the recording schedule and hit OK/Enter
Should be pretty straight forward from there

Very retro** but the solution in this instance. Bear in mind you will lose the padding and broadcast control that accomodates slightly varying start and end times so add 10 mins or more either side for things you don't want to miss.

** For the full experience you should spend a good twenty minutes first rummaging through a large box full of plastic cuboids covered in faded stickers saying 'Dads Vid - Top Gun do not delete'. Then the next twenty minutes working out how to set long record to get 6 hours worth on a 3 hour tape. Happy days.
