Anyone got any recommendations? I've got a 1.7 diesel Astravan that's about 8 years old and pretty much only used for getting bikes to mountains and back and the occasional trip back to Galloway to see the parents, so personal use only.

So, anyone with a similar vehicle want to recommend anyone, or with any tips where to look? I've looked at the comparison sites and the quotes seem pretty steep, but maybe that's just the price of insurance these days....

I dont know why - but I seem to get the cheapest by talking to one of the direct line / admiral / .... group of companies. Generally I start by getting an quote online and they tend to phone me after.

Cheers guys, Direct Line wanted about £1300 😮

I'll try Aviva and Adrian Flux tomorrow.

The renewal for my Vito from Gladiator (Admiral group) would have been £830. Direct line wanted about £1350. Aviva were the cheapest I found online at £530. Rang Adrian Flux and told them best quote, they said they would do it for £500. Job done.

Get a good range of quotes then ring them and haggle. I think they would have gone lower if I hadn't been so honest with them about my other quotes. 🙂

DO NOT GO ON VANCOMPARE!

I ended up getting a call with a decent quote for my Navara, but also bombarded with other calls and floods of emails from various other PPI/home/life/car insurance companies 😡

Gladiator seem to be coming out the cheapest so far from the price comparison websites at about £650 if paid annually. If I can get down to nearer £500 then I'll be reasonably happy.
