I like my low budget horror. Cat in the brain, cannibal holocaust that kind of thing. I recomend cat in the brain as a pinnacle of b-movie horror, a truely dreadful film.

Or you could go for the modern pinnacle of the genre, Starship Troopers.

Don't watch Plan 9. My housemate bought it for a 'so bad it's good' kind of laugh. Well really, it's so bad it's just sh*t. Got thorougly bored after 20 minutes.

Don't watch Plan 9...

Perhaps he could just watch it and make his own mind up?

He could, but he won't like it 🙂 It's not known as the worst film ever made for nothing 🙂

Cannibal Holocaust is a truly revolting film, and not simply because of it's subject matter. Has no redeeming qualities; it's just nasty.

A bit of schlock horror is ok, but there needs to be at least a smidgen of comedy.

Fred your right, I wanted to reccomend 'cannibal terror' not 'holocaust' which is indeed just nasty. Cannibal Terror is the badly dubbed awful film I ment. I blame my mishap on my man-flu. Sorry elfie.

I saw a really bad film when I was at uni, although I think it might have been 70s rather than earlier.

"It's Alive" - about a killer mutant baby...

<edit> the film was 70s; I was at uni from 82-85</edit>

Catflees; no it's ok, I wasn't having a go. Just expressing my opinion on a truly nasty film. It's horrible on so many levels, that the actual 'horror' is insignificant. It's the ideas behind it that are vile. Same goes for 'I spit on your grave'. How anyone can call such trash 'entertainment' is beyond me.

I'm trying to remember the name of a recent Far Eastern (Korean possibly) B-movie, where a lizardy creature comes out of a river and eats people, and there's a scene in a pit thing where it keeps it's victims/food. Any clues?

Ah, found it:

Silly, but enjoyable. Quite good in some bits actually.

I know it's not 50s or 60s, but I thought it might be an alternative.

Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill !

It's a classic.

Early John Waters, Pink Flamingos etc.

Or some Troma stuff - Sergeant Kabukiman, Surf Nazis Must Die etc.

All brilliant terrible movies.

Not a B-movie, but Ed Wood is worth a watch - it's a film about famous B-movie director, er, Ed Wood. I think it's a great film and funny.
