My brother's MOT has expired and is being ripped off by Kwik-Fit. Can anyone recommend me a decent garage that they know/have used.

Thanks

2003 Citreon Saxo 1.4. It's failed on 2 things - h/lamp bulb & the rear braking system, they say it needs the whole system replaced (drums, press fit wheel bearings, shoes, cyclinders, bleed & h/brake cable). I can get the parts for £185 from the same stockist they use. They're charging an additional £415 to fit (that's after a discount of £50).

I work for a company that trains mechanics, they tell me a car very rarely needs new drums - I have been told to pay for the service & get the car out of there promptly. They're already charging £185 for a basic service & MOT.

Specialist independents are usually the way to go. For VW highly recommend Peter Norris.

For Citroen there's this place in Clapham - http://www.frenchcarsclapham.co.uk/ Has been there for years so suspect it's reliable.

Thanks for getting back to me Simons. I managed to find a garage in Wimbledon, funnily enough called Wimbledon Garage. They inspected it and said it didn't need drums, just needed cleaned up. He paid for the work & MOT for about £250....a whopping £400 cheaper overall than KwikFit. Robbing scum bags! 👿
