So, I'm in the market for an internet radio again.  Only criteria is that it can pick up Radio4/6 via Wifi.  I've tried a few and the only one that has lasted has been a Logitech Squeezebox which was great but they've stopped making them.  Our Sangean one has died and the one before that whose name I can't remember also only lasted a few years.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I know that there are various 'internet speakers' like Google Dot that you can control from your phone but I want something with buttons.  3 would do it - on/off, Radio 4, Radio 6.  My requirements are simple :).  No need for batteries.  I looked for that in the last one but in 3 years we've never used in on batteries so that is no longer needed

Any suggestions oh wise ones?  All prices listened to... (maybe)

Forgot to add, I'm very happy to set it up using an app. It's just way easier if I can switch it on and select a couple of stations by button rather than messing around with a phone

TBH, I'd reconsider this. It's hard to get simpler than going "Alexa, play radio 4." Buttons are so 20th century.

Ah, I'd forgotten that option.  That's not so stupid really

The Amazon Echo is pretty good, I inherited one and have kind of invested in the ecosystem a bit since.

If I were starting again from scratch I'd probably go for Google's offering instead, but that's only because I'm already an Android household and I've no first-hand experience of Home. The voice recognition using Android Auto knocks Alexa into a cocked hat though.

OFC, none of this is an issue for you if you just want a radio.

I've had a Google Home for a couple of years now, which works really well as an internet radio.

Is there much difference between a Google home and home mini? I'm just looking for one for a bedroom or maybe a bathroom as well. Does the mini cut it or it the regular home a better option

In the Amazon world the only difference is that the big Echo is, erm, bigger. So, better sound quality. They're otherwise functionally identical AFAIK.

Dunno about Google Home but I'd expect the same to be true.

We wanted an internet radio for ages, they were £100 at the time, but we scored an Echo Dot and a bluetooth speaker for half that price. It's great, plus we've also expanded its capabilities with all the other stuff it can do.

The full Echo is better though - fewer things to plug in and situate - but the Dot is also good. There's also an Echo Input or something which has no speaker at all and is designed for permanent connection to a hifi.

I had the same requirements as you.
Bose one was a right PITA to set up, never did get it working and took it back. Got a Roberts, does everything I want it to and a doddle to set up. However, the screen on the second one has just GI e, first one faded away completely, this one now just blocks, means I can't change channel or anything. Off to John Lewis returns again (quite pleased I didn't save twenty quid by getting one off the internet last time)
So what you, and Irreallyneed is a more reliable Roberts.

I think the Roberts is the same internals as the first one we had and which died. I suspect that something that only does radio is just too niche

I'm starting to come round to the idea of something where we don't need to mess around with menu systems to make it work.
