I used to use Mailwasher with Windows XP on my PC. I'm now on Windows 7, which seems to do everything Mailwasher did.
Is there a free equivalent for Android on my phone ?
All the filters I've found on Play Store are either pay for, or text spam filters.
If I've got to pay for an email spam filter, which one's best ?
Don't know if there's an Android interface, but Spamdrain did a good job for me when my ISP's junk mail filter stopped working. There was a 30-day free trial too I think.

Edit: yeah, there's an Android app. It filters your account not just on the device anyway.
Not sure as I see the point of a client-side spam filter these days. I'd rather the ISP took care of that before I ever saw it.
Most of my mail goes through Gmail or Hotmail, and I can't remember the last time I saw a piece of unfiltered spam.
What couger said, gmail is amazing at filtering
Gmail what's spam? There is more in the forum than my inbox
It turns out I've already got a gmail account I had forgotten about.
Apologies for the numpty question, but do I now have to tell everyone that I want to be able to contact me to use this address, or is there some way of forwarding my tiscali emails through my gmail account and letting gmail filter out the spam ?

I'm not sure about Tiscali but you can normally add an address to forward to so all your @tiscali.com email just gets punted over to @wherever.com. I would have thought it would be in your Tiscali control panel somewhere.
I'd do both, personally. Tell everyone to use the new one and set up a forward on the old one. It's a bit like moving house and getting your mail redirected.
If Tiscali can't / won't forward, you can set up Gmail to go and get it. Though, I'd try forwarding first as it'll be more immediate delivery.
