As above - I'm looking for a nice breatheable jacket that will stop me getting home soaked from within - just like today 🙁 Any ideas welcome please!

Montane Superfly - made from eVent, which is ace. Very breathable fabric.

New Endura ones are very much worth a look as well, excellent design, including clever two stage pit zips.

You can get an Endura Stealth from Rutland for £133, or you could email CRC the link and get them to price match.

Very good jacket.

I'm mightily impressed with the DHB Wickham. The eVent fabric is absolutely superb (I also have a Rab walking/general purpose jacket in eVent), and the DHB version is stupendously good value and feels just as good quality as any of the more expensive ones I looked at. The only thing to be mindful of is that it's fairly no frills - i.e. no pockets or anything, but if you're going to be wearing a Camelbak that's not a problem. Maybe one Napoloeon pocket would have been nice but for the money that's nitpicking really. You don't really need pit zips as the fabric is so good.

Gore Path - very light and slim fitting so ideal for road use. If mainly for MTB you might want something a bit more heavy duty but I love mine. Bout £125 I think.

+1 for the Altura Attack Extreme, very nice jacket, got it personally recommend (By Ed who reviewed it for the mag). Got one for Christmas, light weight so you don't boil in the bag, very waterproof and well made.

I found a Berghaus Paclite Trek Gore-tex jacket for £110 (RRP £160). It's not bike specific, but it's long enough to cover my arse, has all the features I wanted and it's guarateed for use in extreme wet weather. Light, packable, great hood (essential if you ask me)and a durable, breathable, fully waterproof rip-stop fabric.

Just seen this on merlin cycles - http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/cycle-clothing/cycling-outer-jackets/altura-attack-extreme-jacket.html £95 for an attack extreme! That puts it in a great price bracket - for that money, even in orange (no XL in black sadly) - bargain!!!

If you don't mind Yellow. Halfords in York have some Gore Pac lite down from £125 to £50. They had a XL and medium left.

Got a Costco anywhere near you and are or know a member?

Timberland 'Endurion' Toray Dermizax fabric jackets - waterproof, breathable and stretchy for just over £20....

Bit snug fit wise and not bike specific cut, but for the price I could not resist....

I was going to go for a stealth, but I thought it would be too warm. I own plenty of merino (one with a windproof front) that I can layer so I wanted something really light that could be worn on muggy, rainy days too, so I went for a gore path, and I have to say its a proper piece of kit. lovely fitting, and very waterproof indeed

I had a Gore Alp X off santa, ripped the arm on a thorn bush on it's second outing.

Bit miffed to say the least.
