Mates I usually go mountaineering/hillwalking with are all starting to settle down into married/family life - but I'm not there yet so I'm looking for a club to join. Any recommendations for Manchester area?

This one, [url= http://www.karabiner.org/ ]Karabiner Mountaineering Club [/url]is great.
Very friendly, nice mix of people, regular meets and access to a brilliant hut in Snowdonia.
