Lambda sensor is clearly screwed on my polo. Need it replaced before driving to Mull tomorrow afternoon (shit) as it's burning oooodles of petrol and chugging away like nobody's business. Anyone know a good garage that will be able to sort it out sharpish and not charge me £50 for just checking the ECU error values to tell me it's the Lambda sensor?
If you didn't follow that, sorry. I'm just after a good mechanic in Edinburgh! Have only had a car here for a while and haven't needed anything done yet so haven't delved into the world of dodgy car fixing.
If you feel really helpful and want to tell me about a garage right away then drop me a text on 07886036499
Ta, Pete
Couldnt you just buy a Lambda sensor from Euro Car Parts and fit it yourself.
Socket set or spanner would be all you need. Arent they just screwed into the exhaust with multi plug on the end of a piece of wire?
ah, i didn't know there was a shop i could get hold of one in edinburgh. you're quite right - it's just and unscrew, screw back in job.
wouldn't i need to get the ECU errors reset by a man with a laptop though, or can i just change them and get on my way?
Im not sure, but there is a Bosch specialist next door to Euro Car Parts.
Ah, good man mcmoonter. looks like you've sorted me out a treat. I'll head along there tomorrow morning sharpish and see what they can do for me.
I'd phone them first to make sure they have the part. If they dont they can usually get one from another branch by 11am
cool, will do. looks like they open at 8, so i'll give them a ring first thing.
