Something about mountains the outdoors based. Based on some actual events
What have you read?
I've done the into the willd, joe Simpson books, 127 hours
Cairngorm John
By John Allen
And also you don't specify which mountains so try "be brave be strong" and" ghost trails " in that order - by Jill homer
Journey to the centre of the earth - by Richard and Nic Crane.
Written in a very unassuming manner - but it's a great travelogue, and an amazing journey given the constraints they set themselves.

Cairngorm John
^^^ This.
I can't recommend this bloke's books highly enough:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mountains-Mind-Fascination-Robert-Macfarlane/dp/1847080391/ref=pd_cp_14_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MRBSDC2MZ1E1KGEWNTY9
Start with this one then go on to The Wild Places, The Old Ways and Landmarks
Just wonderful books, and superb writing.
Ditto Cairngorm John.
Any Nick Crane, Clearwaters Rising a frequent re-read.
Tilman
Cairngorm John is good.
Also:
Creag Dubh Climber
The Philosophy of Risk
Killing Dragons
The White Spider
Into Thin Air / The Climb
Ranulph Fiennes biography of Scott is pretty good too, as is South, Shackleton's autobiographical account of his expedition.
I have to admit to finding Mountains of the Mind to be navel-gazing of the worst kind...
Be brave, be strong Jill Homer +1.
Read it today, excellent.
Also enjoyed Eat Sleep Ride by Paul Howard (same TD from a (slower) perspective)
And Psychovertical by Andy Fitzpatrick
Nazi Hunters by Damien Lewis - not "about" mountains but set in them.
All true, factual and brutal.
The reall story of where the boys in black came from
Hell of a Journey - On Foot through the Scottish Highlands in Winter
by Mike Cawthorne is good.
Also as above,
Be Brave, Be Strong
Into Thin Air
Any Robert Macfarlane except Mountains of the Mind - agree with stevomcd on that one!
A hell of a journey is a book of 2halfs.
You can tell he enjoyed the first part of the trip.
Then his writing style makes it clear he was just going through the motions.
Did not rate it at all.
The Worst Journey in the World (Apsley Cherry-Garrard).
(Even if you only read 'The Winter Journey' chapter)
Ed Stafford's 'Walking the Amazon' is set in the jungle, although there is a mountain at the start! A great adventure read.
Cheers!
In case there's any trace of doubt left - Cairngorm John.
And a book like no other that I've read - The Living Mountain by Nan Shepherd. She wrote about the Cairngorms with a focus on the landscape that is hard to explain, kind of close-up and detailed.
The white spider is a must for any budding mountaineer.
Walking the Himalayas by Levison Wood
Feet in the Clouds: A Tale of Fell-Running and Obsession by Richard Askwith
The Real Heroes of Telemark by Ray Mears
Not mountaineering books per se, but all feature plenty of mountains.
The Revenant
Another vote for Cairngorm's John! Any of Mark Horells bitesize exped Kindle books are good as well.
There is a lovely climbing book by Gordon Stainforth called Fiva. It's a Norwegian climbing trip that goes wrong, based on actual events. It's really charming, can't recommend it highly enough.
