After quality of sound and effectiveness of noise cancelling combined with comfort if thats all possible.
Prefer sound from senheissers (find it natural) rather then the sound from Dre Beats headphones (overblown wooly bass)

I do a lot of long haul. Splashed out on Bose quietcomfort. I wear them for 11 hours at a time, an the single AAA battery lasts for 2 or three round trips to SFO. Highly recommend, but they are a bit pricey.
