I used to really like my music, I have loads of CD butI haven't bought anything for years. Happy to listen to what I like (and have)

Anyway gonna spend a whole £10 on iTunes got a load of documents to write today so head down to keyboard and music on!

What shall I buy? Something new?

Stuff I like was all the Brit pop / Indie stuff.

Stone Roses
Sugar
Oasis
Shed7
Charlatans
etc.

😯

+1

The English Riviera by Metronomy, The Look is a great tune, cool and quirky.

Tame Impala - Innerspeaker might float you're boat too - psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music

Actually sometimes it's worth going back in time, I've just re-listened to Led Zep's first few albums, they take some beating. And Jesus and Mary Chain's Almost Gold album.

NWA - Straight Outta Compton.

Like your thinking but have it as a CD so not gonna download it.

Led zep are a classic fall back.

Trying "English Riviera" I'll let you know what I thinking. On Track 4 at the moment and it sounds okay if not a bit like 'geek' musi

Well not feeling it yet but my foot does seem to be moving of it's own accord.

It sounds very familiar but can't think what it's like. Sort of a bit Zero7'y but not quite.

N&F + 2 (just giving it a spin now!)
Yuck + 1

What Did You Expect From The Vaccines is good. Not sure yet if it lives up to the hype but it's certainly a decent listen.

Not sure if I'm going to get on with Metronomy. I like The Look but the rest is a bit meh.

The Young Knives 'ornaments from the silver arcade'. About as indie pop as it gets.

Anything by 'The Thermals' or Of montreal's album, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer, this has the best 11 minute song ever on it and that coming from someone that really doesn't like long songs.

Going back to OP:
Warpaint - The Fool is worth a listen.
Beach House - Teen Dream
Grinderman - Grinderman 2
The National - High Violet (although you've surely got that already!)
Hurts - Happiness (bit MOR but good)
PJ Harvey - Songs from the city...

Off to listen to some more of the recommendations now...

oh and Tarot Sport by The **** Buttons is tremendous, as is The Last Resort by Trentemoller. Although both are not the genre that you asked for, so look up some descriptions/review/previews before shelling out any money on them.

just started listening to N&F. Sounds good.

Rue Royale's first album - amazing - I don't know anyone who has heard this and not liked it regardless of their usual musical tastes.

fIREHOSE - Flying the Flannel.

<Applauds>

I'd go for If'n myself though.

Jim Moray - Low Culture for a bit of folky crossover stuff. I bought it for the cover of XTCs All You Pretty Girls, but went and bought his other stuff after listening to the whole album.

Actaully, go and get Fossil Fuel (best of XTC). Massively underrated band.

Try flowdynamics.

I like it. Not really similar to the examples you provided but variety is good!

Erland and the Carvival - can't remember the album's name. They're slightly 60's, a bit folk-rock and contain some guy who was big in Brit-Pop, but I've forgotten his name, too,

PJ Harvey - Let England Shake

Richard Thompson - Dream attic

Tiger6791, have you bought any music since the 90s as I like all the bands you mention and have loads of suggestions, but want to get an idea of how recent you want.
