I’m looking to buy some rattan garden furniture, prices seem to vary quite widely. I’m looking for something that is average quality so not really high end, but also not so cheap that it falls apart or is really uncomfortable. Also must be in stock, quite a few places have long delivery times. Any recommendations?

We've recently bought a 'Bermuda' set from Blue Diamond Garden Centres - happy with it. £1299, but sign up for their card and you get 20% off. Seem to be asking for stock though, but they have quite a big range, so you might find something

all looks good..we have some awful black stuff that needs replacing...nothing in the window reflection...annoying.... but is that a dead badger on the lawn?

I’d avoid the plastic rattan. We bought a premium brand, nice design. It’s UV unstable and over the three years the strands start to snap. Nothing that won’t damage the utility, but it detracts from the look. That includes a table under glass.

I’d buy proper rattan or something else next time. Cheap wood will also be a false economy.

Thanks TiRed, the only danger is the budget starts to go too far in the wrong direction. I seem to have that problem when buying anything.

Not had the same experience as TiRed, one of our sets is 6 years old, dark brown / black colour, nothing snapped and no colour loss either. Cheapish set from Groupon. Cleans up really well.

UK leisure world

Seems solid and good quality stuff, cheaper than other places with the same stuff.

Got ours from there.

UK Leisure World look good, but mostly out of stock. I think there has been an increase in demand due to the lockdown. Have bookmarked and will check to see if they update the stock.

We got some from Shackletons, based somewhere in Lancs. They've an online shop that we used, but we had to wait weeks for it to arrive from Indonesia. I'd post a photo link but I've not got a good record of success with that!

Have a look at the John Pye auction site. If you live within striking distance of one of their venues you might be able to bag a good deal

It’s failed deliveries and returns, some bankrupt stock.

I got a lovely set sold by John Lewis for very little money. Nothing much wrong with the lots we bought but it’s buyer beware

We have a Keter set (just turned three years old) and it is still in perfect condition, looking pretty much as new despite being left outside year-round - I just jet wash it in the spring.
