The Post office calculator says they will charge me 2.50 and Ebay won't let me put this price as an acceptable p&p cost preferring to set the max at 1.25.
Even the most basic business student will see a problem, but which of the wiser ones here can provide me with a solution?
Is there a way round this absurdity?

Dvd?

I understand 'Suck it up' is the regulation stw answer.

Or price it accordingly.

Yup, dvd.
Box set weighs in at 250g, Post Office is going to charge 2.16 and Ebay only allows 1.25. I'm not trying to rip anyone off, but I'm not happy making a loss because of Ebay either.
"suck it up" or "**** 'em off!" They're my pants and I'll say whether they stay up or down.

As you say though, there is a very simple way around this.

There was a thread earlier about how the internetz has robbed us of all decisiveness. Things are becoming clearer with every thread. 🙂

Enlighten me.
Clearly I'm missing something on the Ebay page as the postage price won't change and the market price can't absorb, so sucking it to see is the only way, no?
If it costs too much through Ebay I'll just sling them as they're taking up too much space and I can't be arsed with the hassle of Ebay.

I don't know what you're trying to say, dd, or do I?

can you not just say collection only then list the postage fee if they dont want to collect?

Never sold anything on eBay, so I'm probably not the best person to post, but...

Can't you just list the price as 'freight' and sort it after the sale?

This is a bit of a trial as I'm clearly an Ebay [s]numpty[/s] newbie to see how it all works.
How far would you travel to pick up a dvd, or two?
Bulk selling isn't going to be an option as the shops I spoke to this morning gave various reasons for not wanting to take on more stock and if I was delivering to them and they don't want, I can't see them travelling.
Secondly I'm in rural Shrops, so not a large customer base nearby.
I've stuck it on to see how it goes.
I don't think pick up onlyis an option.
It's quite amusing as Ebay say they don't want people to get ripped off by excessive charges, yet I can't charge the official price based on weight.
This time next year, Rodney, we'll be millionaires... 😉

The last time I sold something on eBay, I was able to set the postage price myself (I just looked at similar items, took a rough average and went with that). Have things changed?

@ geoffj:lol:
@ dd, as far as I can see the postage price is set and fixed by Ebay, you can go lower, but not higher.
