Is it normal to be insured such that you can drive anyone's car, or is this an additional feature that you have to pay for? Like say you and me drive 2 hr to the trails in my car. I feel really tired after the ride so you drive us home in my car because you're insured to do so. That sort of thing.

used to be normal, it's becoming less and less common.

You have to check the details. If it's not stated in there, you don't get it. My mate has it, but it's only a handful of policies (and now only for over-25s)

It used to be that if you were insured Fully Comp on your vehicle, you'd get a insured Third Party Only on any other vehicle not owned by you or hired to you (with the owner's consent obvious).

I've heard that some [s]thieving scum[/s] insurance companies now class that as an 'extra' for which you should pay.

Depends on the insurer. It'll state if this is included on the certificate, it's only ever 3rd party cover though

tis included on my ins and didn't ask for it (probably added it without me asking)
