Question for Nespresso Vertuo users…

Santa bought me Nespresso pop for Christmas. I’ve noticed straight after you press the button 2 or 3 drips of old coffee that has been sitting in the pipes drips out into the cup, it then spins up and 5 or 6 seconds later the coffee from the new pod starts to flow. Is that normal or is it faulty? I can get round it by moving the cup away for a few seconds at the start so the stale coffee goes in the drip tray, but if it’s not supposed to do that I’ll return it.

Thanks!

Do you get rid of the old pod straight after use? I have a vertuo original and don't have this issue.

Mmm, only used it a few times, but I don’t think I did. Will try and see if that sorts it.

Im not sure about the Vertuo, but on the older style Nespresso machines, i found that the best way to improve the taste of your coffee was to do a dummy run first - get everything warmed up and cleared out - before inserting your own pod.

That would also solve the OP’s issue, no?

Might do, don’t know enough about Vertuo but will it run without having the barcodey bit to scan?

You can run a cleaning cycle but it takes a while and pumps through 500ml of water, might be able to terminate early though by pressing the button.

I only have the standard Nespresso but I always run hot water into the cup to heat the cup and machine, put the pod in, make coffee, eject pod and then run water through again to flush before next use. I think this what Nespresso recommend. It’s got to help to keep the machine clean.
