Small child arrived safe and sound 3 weeks ago after a short but intense labour. Unfortunately baby turned back to back so had to be delivered with forceps and so I needed an episiotomy and stitches.
Question is...any experience of this from people out there and how long did you/your partner wait before riding again?
I want to get out and will ask Dr for advice but I'm just curious as to others experiences.
Cheers.

Kip...I had an episiotomy and stitches after both my kids.
Back to normal, err, "activities" after about 6 weeks, so I reckon you'll be fine riding your bike after that time!! 8)

You'll know when you are OK. I'd have a word with your mid-wife.
There is a tendency to treat new mothers like invalids. MrFC booked me a massage 6 weeks after I'd had my first as a pamper treat, and they refused to see me until 12 weeks after the birth, as it "wasn't safe"!! 🙄

Any questions and your GP/Doc is the best option but why rush something as major as that-just heal up and then go.

My Sis was fine in 4 weeks but had a bit of pain -I doubt she would ride a bike so quick but she is little so it was quite a shock for her.

Everyone varies.

Congrats to the baby btw.

Hope you got a better job than my wife. She was stitched up by a junior and the scarring was so bad she lost a 'certain degree of flexibility'. Normal riding activities were almost impossible for some time after.

And then when #2 was born, the episiotomy to overcome the scarring was so big, that in Grand Designs terms the lounge and dining room were practically knocked through into one communal living area.

I'm lead to believe it's quite a sensitive area. While the wife's experiences are at the extreme end of the scale, she was still on the trusty NCT valley cushion after 3 weeks.
