I got the 'your price is increasing by £7/month from 1 May' email a while ago, with today as the last day to cancel without cancellation fees.
If you're not sure whether you can be bothered to do anything, when I did it just now there was an automated phoneline option to get a £3.50/month discount with no increase in contract length. Just had to phone 03454541111 and select the 'thinking of leaving us' options to get offered that.
Yep - got an email to say mine was increasing from £36 to £45.
Phoned them up, they offered to discount by the £9 until the end of my contract (Sept). I still cancelled and have been getting calls from them offering better broadband at a cheaper price. Haven't taken it yet as still looking around, Vodafone look to be offering some decent fibre deals so going to see what they say and if Virgin can make any further offers.
Last month I decided to leave them when they announced the increase (I had been paying about £70 a month) and followed through with my decision and cancelled - opting not to accept any of the offers over the phone, and I even set up a DD with another provider. I was awaiting the installation (they were on a newer fibre network that had just been installed in our street) and then suddenly I got an offer via email from Virgin for £44 fixed for 18 months on an 18 month contract with a broadband upgrade and more TV channels to boot!
i was on one of the 70quid packages but called and got a better package for £45/month.
the letter saying it was going up came after that so i dont know if it relates to my old contract or the new one.
:-/
Vodaphone broadband is excellent. Had it for about 3 years now. Faultless.

Thanks for this👍. I literally just did the same thing. Took 2 minutes and now paying £3.50/ month less then I would have been paying for the next 6 months of my contract. Unfortunately where I live the option is either 120+mb Virgin or 4mb super slow. There's nothing in between, so I'm stuck with Virgin - at least until the Non-Virgin super super fast system gets rolled out (if ever).
Thanks, had forgotten about this.
Called them yesterday. They had pointed out that in a letter that a new customer would get the same package as we currently get for £60 a month less! I reminded them and while I didn't get the full £60 off, got a good chunk of it. Which reminds me that we really need to start moving away from our Virgin email accounts as our defaults for the day when we have to stay goodbye to them.
Ours was going up by £15 (plus a further £19 when loyalty discount runs out), see Freeview vs Freesat thread
We’ve kept the broadband after a nightmare with BT/Openreach last time we tried to switch.

should have stayed on the line - they will discount by the amount of the price increase if you got to a person.
They applied mine from the phone call, so when i called up to cancel not only did the £9 price increase go away but i have a cheaper couple of months in the meantime.
Same thing every year, but i think since the o2 merger they are now allowing for price increases in the contract annoyingly.
I called yesterday and ended up getting it cheaper than I'm paying now, before the price increase, so saved about a tenner on BB.
Virgin for £44 fixed for 18 months
Virgin might not have the same definition as you or I do about "fixed."😉
