Just a heads up - have a look at their website

bada-uk.org / http://www.tickbitepreventionweek.org

So far this year our dog has had 3 ticks removed from her by me and at least 4 other bites from ticks which to my shame I didnt find till after they had detached...

They are out there people - be proactive and get some insect repellent and a tick tool and think about your clothing choice when out in the hills. Urban ticks are on the increase too.

I got ill from a bite a few years ago - really really not fun.

Crikey. Didn't expect them to be around so early.

Had a couple of bites last year & now carry tick hooks in my camelbak. Also been wearing longer socks, but ski socks in summer isn't going to work for a sweaty get like me.

No, neither did we! Very unusual - sign of the warm, wet winter up here I think.

2 removed already from down here in Devon, both from Dartmoor. None from Haldon just yet, they must still be a little sleepy there.

I'm really not sure why i collect so many compared to others, Yetiesque legs, first down the trails or just my haphazard line choice i guess.

I can vouch for the O'Tom tick twister though, very good for tick removal.

Tom O'Twisters rock - I have a set in my backpack - a set in my wallet and a set in my van....

I REALLY hate ticks - please support BADA and lets get the information out there.

Hairy legs / dogs = allows for more ' questing ' ticks to be picked up in my opinion....

I am avoiding shorts for as long as possible and I coat my socks / boots / gaiters / bike tights etc with repellent.

I would rather be soaked in sweat from hiking / biking than get another infection and having to deal with a disbelieving GP and workplace - trust me its not worth it. I think more publicity is needed - our american friends on here can probably relate to this a lot more and the surrounding political / financial ramifications.

We were picking ticks up down on exmoor in december 2011.... last year we got ticks in somerset / mid / south / north wales - lakes - isle of mull...
