Highly recommend watching Lev on catchup Channel 5, he's a [s]darn hot[/s] beardy ruffty tuffty ex Army chap for those who don't know him. Has also walked the Nile and the Americas.
Then we were spoiled with Gordon Buchanan (BBC4) staying with a Khazak family and learning to hunt with a golden eagle whilst riding a horse. That has to be the coolest thing ever. You have to love the golden eagle as much as your wife apparently. 😀
Stonking photography with closeups of the eagle, mesmerising stuff.
Then Simon Reeve. No wonder the FSB were out in force with all these Brits in their hood. That crater, wow, any idea of the size? Deforestation, global warming, their future is bleak unless they get a grip.

Seriously? I'm sure the people are lovely but the country is severely messed-up, and I would think twice about going there under the current regime.

mikey74, no denying the country is messed up and presents a danger to tourists but I would still love to visit. It would be fascinating and, darn, I would love to ride a horse with an eagle on my arm. 🙂
