We just went to get the wife some new sunglasses and the ones she wanted were some Ray Ban New Wayfarers and cost £170 (expensive but she works hard and deserves a treat). The offer is any 2 pairs for £199.

I wanted some aviators for a while but the model I wanted were £170.

Today we got both pairs for £199!

The offer runs till Friday. We got the polarised lenses too for that price.

Some might say extravagant but it's a really good deal if you were after some Ray Ban sunnies.

You do know all/majority of the branded sunglasses/spectacles frame, yes including Ray Ban, are own by ONE company don't you?

Bargain? Ya, right ...

Even Oakley was absorb by this one company because they cannot compete without channel to sell.

Ask all your high street opticians and see who control them.

It's practically a monopoly of the market by one company.

If so what difference does that make? Or are you saying all sunglasses are the same?

Ray Ban's are very good although I prefer the lenses in Maui Jim's myself

They seem to be well under £100 a pair at most online outlets (most of which appear legit).

Am I missing something though? (quite possibly)

They could be the same.

I suppose in the same way that Audi and VW cars are the same after all they are both owned by the same company.

Yes, or VW & Skoda.

The polarised lens Large metal Aviators and New Wayfares aren't under £100 anywhere. I spent ages checking if it was a good deal.

Loddrik, I did say it was a treat and just a helpful PSA.

I had half a dozen or so pairs of Wayfarers a few years ago. You wouldn't believe how many fags I got through to get them. 🙄

Two pairs for £199 is a very good price!

Sadly I can't justify doubling my Aviator count right now...

There were random people doubling up in the store. Makes sense with such a saving.

Haha, when you say a couple of years ago do you mean in about 1992?

Wish I still had my Wayfarers from that offer. Lucky I had a heavy smoking boss to help me save enough packets.

Again, so what? Just because the brands are owned and manufactured by one holding company doesn't mean that each brand is identical; it's perfectly clear that glasses by Oakley, Arnet and RayBan are totally different from each other, which is just as it should be.
Just as it's clear that cars made under the VAG name are all quite different in the way they look, the way they drive, and what they cost.
People who wear Prada shades are highly unlikely to wear Oakley or Arnet, although they may wear RayBan; it's called choice.
But at least all my Oakley, Arnette and Oakley glasses pre-date the buy-up by some considerable margin! 😀

it's called choice.

There will be no choice when Comrade Loddrik comes to power.

Behold, your new (and only choice of) sunglasses!

Owned by luxottica. Can't see that as a bad thing myself. Anything they chucked out was always fairly good quality in my previous employment as an optician.

I was never controlled as to what to buy. Just purely what would sell. That's normal right?

I like em. Well made for the price.

Again, so what?

Would not worry yourself CountZero. It's just another piece of intrigue causing, mystic wisdom from Chewkw. It doesn't need to make sense, have any logic or adhere to the normal rules about prejudice. "Ya", Chewkw probably believes it's a product of a diabolical "Zombie Maggot" plot. I treat his outpourings similarly to the more extreme JHJ output.

Ya, because I do not to want pay high price for my glasses.

So buy some cheap crap then.

The choice is yours.

The fact that Luxottica own loads of eyewear brands has nothing to do with it

Oakleys were expensive before they where owned by Luxottica, and they are still expensive now. What's your point?

The offer will be helped by the fact that the same company that own RayBan also own Sunglasses Hut 🙂

Less links in the chain = more margin, so they can do better offers.

CountZero is worried? 😆 He better be coz they will get him sooner or later. There is no place to hide ...

I see it's alright to monopolise the market now ... hmmm ...? 😛

Bloody left winger that cannot decide to be on left or right. 😆

We have Oakleys for cycling but we've also picked up really good quality sunnies in TK Maxx and I prefer some of these lenses.
