10 minutes from Blackburn to Holmfirth - that'd knock a chunk of your commute wouldn't it?

Anyone "in the know" able to say whether after Holmfirth they'll do a Derwent dams run?

I'll be there too. Can't wait, just hope it doesn't scare the kids too much 😀

Good point. Before the 60th anniversary run - out of the blue two Tornado's did a mid-week sneaky low/fast recc'y of the WLT/dam area. I only got to see them by chance. Left me and two walkers a giggly-mess.

Get up Holme Moss, you'll get a cracking view from there whichever direction they come in from!

I'm thinking Gummers How will be a good spot to watch the Windermere flypast, as I'd imagine they'll fly down the lake on the way to Morecambe.

I take it from the excitement that they've got the Canadian one working again?

Is the actual route available anywhere, rather than just time-stamps?

Now just to plan* an other-half-friendly route round Holmfirth for Sunday.

*should anyone local be able to offer some advice I'd be grateful, my history of picking green dashed lines that turnout to be fun isn't so hot.

I'm going to Ayr on the Bonneville. Some excellent British sounds in Ayr tomorrow, then!

Thumper and Vera - here I come.

Will Holmefirth be rammed? Is there somewhere nearby where we can park? I can't walk too far atm, so a mile or under, outside the village would be good.

The sooner the (good) Argentinians get rid of their incompetent leadership the better. Theyll implode before they fight again.

Nah, it's one Lancaster and the Vulcan, as the other Lanc is Canadian.

There will be three running Lancasters at E Kirby on 14 Sep (though granted NX611 won't be flying).

Good question Bluearsedfly.

I thought about Darwen Tower but then looked at the map - if they take a straight run to Holmforth then they are more likely to cross over Ramsbottom way after leaving Blackburn.

So Peel Tower or maybe get up to Lee or Cragg Quarries.

Think i may take a chance on Peel Tower.

Good shout! Should be a great spot if they do fly straight over to Holmfirth.

A Lancaster went straight over my head at about 5pm today as I was heading up towards two lads.

Never seen anything like it.... And felt like I could have reached up and touched it it was that close.

Anybody else see it?

My mind couldn't compute it to be honest. My first thought was that it was a plane crashing and my second that we were being invaded! From a distance I thought it must be a herc but no mistaking when it came over.

Not something you see everyday.

sadly no flights over the SW 🙁

Saw one flanked by a Hurricane and a Spitfire fly over the house earlier in the summer though. Knew what it was before I saw it.

Any recommendations as to where might be best close to Penrith? Windermere's a bit of a trek mid Sunday afternoon, I'm interested but not that interested....

Canadian one not flying today according to their Facebook page. Supposed to be doing today's route tomorrow instead. Was hoping to see them both over Morecambe bay tomorrow. Bloody weather. 🙁
