If they can successfully claim people knew it was a pricing error they are perfectly within their rights IIRC.

I think until they actually take the money (not just pre authorise it) no contract is made between you and them anyway.

When I put in the tracking number to ups site nothing shows up, but I’ve not had any cash back yet into my account

A bit conflicted by this, by all means cancel the order but to issue no email to the customer is shit. Especially given I have a delivery slot so I’m assuming they are expecting me to be in to receive it

On the flip side, it’s was a not insignificant amount of cash for something I didn’t particularly want, doesn’t have any of the features I use so would have sat at the back of the cupboard gathering dust, and would undoubtedly have broken within 3 months just as every other product from garmin I have ever owned has.

And it only cost 30p to make, or something 😛

Congrats to those who got them, commiserations to those who didn't. It was always taking a bit of a punt imo.

Yeah, I can't argue with that, and I wouldn't really blame them for cancelling whether they could claim buyers knew there was an error or not, but if they just cancel it and don't say a word, I reckon that's just bad form. I don't want anything from them, but an email just saying "sorry, we really screwed up" would do the job.

If some got theirs and others didn't though, that would be just plain unfair.

It'll probably happen, but realistically, all their comms people are probably on holiday.

I don’t think they can possibly claim that people would have known it’s a pricing error. It’s not like they were a quid. I got some high end running shoes at 50% off just a couple of days ago.

Or off sick. It's a long time since I was in retail and that was in a shop so not online. But my understanding was that the "shop" was perfectly within their rights to refuse to sell an item. For example we would sometimes have items with the wrong price on them. If you spotted it before you took the money for it then you could tell the customer it was wrongly priced and refuse to sell it at that price. If they had paid for it, then it was too late. You could appeal to their better nature but they were within their rights to keep it. I'll be annoyed if some people get them at the bargain price and I don't but as long as they've not taken any money then it's just one of those things. I'll be a bit gutted as my old Edge 200 is getting a bit tired and I could do with a replacement but £300 is a bit rich for me. I definitely would have used it.

Just checked and my text notification of delivery slot actually came from ups rather than garmin. Surely once it’s in the ups system then there is no way garmin can get it back…

The guys I feel most sorry for are the ones who clearly bought 4 or 5 and put them on eBay earlier in the week 😂

As per earlier post, Argos has the non solar version for less than 130 if anyone is that aggrieved about missing out

Someone as big as garmin will prebook with UPS. Just because a consignment number exists, doesn’t mean they have the package in their hands.

It was obviously an error in hindsight though I didn’t twig at the time. We are clearly not getting them

However as in all business it’s not the actual mistake but how it’s handled that really sets a company apart.
This has now pissed me off- the order went in 6 days ago and they have had plenty of time to resolve and send an apology. Instead they have just sat on the pre authorisation and produced zero communication. Poor form and this episode will erode faith in any future sales.

I don't think it was *obviously* a pricing error - possibility wasn't really raised in this thread until they put the prices up. With hindsight, maybe - but it was still a reasonable amount of money.

otoh, I don't feel like they're obliged to honour the orders, either.

If they’ve got round to cancelling all orders I’d like to think that they could have seen fit to refund my PayPal account at same time but that’s obviously not such a priority for them!

It’s cheap enough that I’d be surprised if they don’t cancel due to a pricing error, but you never know

My credit card payment is no longer showing, was 'pending'. Like it never existed.

Poor form without an email but not unexpected from Garmin at all.

I guess Garmin are still processing the cancellations. Mine is still showing on Garmin as in progress and the money is pending in my account.
Not completely unexpected. Didn’t really need one but would have been nice.

Feels like it would be a bit harsh to send you that and send you another email later saying "No, sorry, we changed our minds. You're not getting it after all."

I think we have an analogy for this at work, which amounts to "foreplay". i.e. we're about to get f.....

I’ve just had an email

Assuming this was for one of the discount Instincts then to send that if they aren’t going to honour the sale is pretty disgraceful!

My delivery slot has now passed, no watch, no refund, no email from garmin.

Struggle to understand why I continue to give this company my business given the are such a constant source of disappointment!

It is ok everyone. I have hedged my bets and ordered another (With a discount BlueLightCard card holders get a chunk off)

With my luck and judgement, This means that it will all work out everyone will get theirs and I will end up with two! And probably ended up paying full retail.

I was going to buy a gps / fitness watch anyway for my imminent birthday, so in the grand scheme of things no real loss.

It's for the Instinct. If it turns up it's fine, if it doesn't then it's no loss.
If they have messed up on the sake price and back out then I don't have a problem with that.
It won't stop me buying Garmin in the future

I've struggled to understand that since your first posts on this thread. I'm going between FOMO and simple greed.

Omg... this is a SUPER scam...

You all think you're getting a bargain GPS watch...
But in fact, garmin have YOUR money, AND you've no watch...

Well played garmin. Well played.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garmin shut down operations and retire off the back of this thread....

😉

In my head, Garmin looks much more like Frank Spencer.

If you think it's tense on here go read the forum posts on HDUK about this. Last time I looked it's was 24 pages long and people are falling out left right and centre 🙂
(Okay maybe I have way too much time on my hands)

To get this upset over something that is going to “sit at the back of a cupboard gathering dust” is mind boggling.

If Garmin turn round and say “sorry, we messed up” cancel the order and issue a prompt refund then so be it. It’s no great loss, and I was actually going to use it.

I’ve struggled to understand that since your first posts on this thread. I’m going between FOMO and simple greed.

Well for starters none of the previous 3 products I’ve bought from them have been reduced in the slightest so it’s clearly nothing to do with greed, more that I’ve wanted a product, paid full price for it, and each one has proved unfit for purpose. But then you wouldn’t know that because you know absolutely nothing about my purchase history with garmin do you.

Thanks for your insight all the same however 😏

I’m not upset in the slightest. Only reason I’ve commented so many times on this thread so far today is that I’m laid up in bed ill and have absolutely nothing better to do with my time today!

I do however think it’s pretty shoddy that they haven’t either refunded me or sent me a cancellation notification, which I think is an entirely reasonable position.
