While not completely relevant the back story to this is that I'm separating from my wife (probably many threads to come when I've unravelled a bit more) and really don't want my house to be 'dads crap boring house' which i remember from my childhood. So motivated to find the best solution.

So. 10 yr old so has an Xbox 1. Plays fortnite and Minecraft. Xbox staying at mums. I'd like to get some gaming going at mine (currently staying with a friend but some can stay too) and he'd like a PS4 as his mates all have one and apparently it's easier to talk to them if they're on the same platform?

I'd quite like to get a gaming PC as he's quite geeky and in the medium term I think he'd really like that aspect.

Or should I ignore what he wants an get an Xbox as I already pay for Xbox live and know the system?

Any advice from gamers/parents? Thanks.

Hmmm. Reading back I think the answer is obvious, PS4 because thats what he'd like and I'm happy to spoil him right now as he's having a shit time and I've got to own some responsibility for that.

Any tips on deals/what to look out for? I'm guessing consoles are as pricey as bikes right now 🙄

If "all his mates" are on PS4 what are you paying for Live Gold for?

A gaming PC will cost like four times what a console will cost and he won't be able to play with his mates?

I think in your situation I'd go PS4. If nothing else, there's exclusive titles on both platforms so it broadens the choice of what he can play.

This, plus food that he likes.
