I always see the old woman first and have to look for the young woman.

The classic Orbison illusion:
It's a bit boring, but I like it as it's related to the work I do:

Everyone like this colour adaptation one too (you need to look at the cross for 30s or so without moving your eyes):

In the first the outline of the image is rectangular (an the red thing square), but doesn't look it.
In the second, the red lines are straight, but look bent.

Is she spinning clockwise or anti-clockwise? Are you sure?

grahams - now that is just wrong, i'm now very confused, have you swapped that image in the last 5 mins to make her go the other way?

Don't have a scan of it but my bank account is a great optical illusion...at first glance on pay day I have money...blink and it's all gone...one minute it's there and the next it's not...

I'm not sure I really understand that rotating woman one.
It's certainly not a visual illusion in the true sense.

Anyway, surely the direction is entirely dependent on whether you consider your view point to be from above or below?

Your supposed to look at the woman or it would say which way is the shadow spinning. No matter how I look at it it's always clockwise.

I can "make" the woman spin the other way, but I have to really concentrate, and that makes my head hurt

well bugger me, it only bloody works

stair at the shadow for a while, at first it looks like she is oscillating but then all of a sudden she's going the other way

momentary blink and she's back to clockwise again

😆

I think I'm concentrating on the shadows nipple too much to get the full effect.

Oh yeah, it does work!

By playing with the gif in a media player (stopping and starting it) I can make it appear to rotate both ways 😯

They are numbers 25,29,45,56,6,8. Hope that helps. Oh and the spinny things hold your mouse over them and they stop or slow down. THe Spinning woman thing is strange tho.

I have printed out that dragon and plan to make it tomorrow morning when I'm in the office on my own.

That worked briefly for about 2 seconds and thought "wow she's going anti-clockwise" which then made my brain switch again and can't get her to do it any more.

at first the spinny woman ws going anti-clockwise. the GF saw her going clockwise. then read the spiel about it on the link and thought "how true", but later read something on wiki about the spinny woman and it said the left/right brain thing was bull....
