There is a chance that the Sinatras may move back Edinburgh way (currently in Borders) Kids are primary school age now but we don't fancy moving schools more than once so looking to areas that are in the catchment area for good secondary schools. Would prefer south side of city, which are the good schools and which are best to avoid?

Don't get too hung up on the catchment area thing. My daughter is at Balerno High and they typically take kids in from up to 30 different primaries.

James Gillespies, Boroughmuir, Currie, Balerno and Firrhill are all above the average in the "league tables" should you want to choose that as your indicator.

would rather not worry about placing though. Goes without saying that we would need a decent primary as well though and these are often (but not always) found in within the catchment for the best secondaries
