[Closed] Pocketmags

So I was having no end of trouble with it last week. I reinstalled it and so far its been good. It did mean I had to download the magazine again which took forever 🙁

Aye. Gave up and downloaded the PDF instead. Have reinstalled twice.

I can't get the iPad app to launch it just quits whilst loading, I have deleted and installed this 5 times and still no joy ! The iPhone app launches sometimes but won't load any of my purchased episodes.

Re the crashing, have you updated to IOS 6? I had not but once I did the problems seemed to stop.

yes i have updated both devices to iOS6.

We are looking into what the issue is. There's been a lot of reported crashes and we are doing everything we can at this end to see if we can sort it. Pocketmags are also working at their end. There is a planned update to version 5, due in a few weeks time that promises more stability , read WHILE downloading plus a whole lot of other features that we will be able to plug in to the issues we publish in the app.

We currently have a large group of users testing the link between our subs system here on our site and the Pocketmags app in the iOS/Android store. If we get all the kinks worked out in time issue 78 should see us roll out the full integration bteween our website subscription syste (Premier) and the App. That will mean if you subscribe here on our site you will have the option to activate a pocketmags account that will let you access your subscription via the App. That's for Android too.

It is hugely more problematic and complicated than I'm sure it appears from the outside but we are working flat out to make sure that when you subscribe to Singletrack you get to access everything, everywhere on any device for just one annual payment.

This App integration isn't the only extra we are working on for subscribers either. And we hope to have news on that by early December.

Subscribe now (and get a free MTBguide book) and you will be all geared up for when we switch on the new features in December. You will also avoid the subs price increase that is coming in December too.

I did my subs last night but was extremely dissapointed when the app would not work. I have taken to just downloading the pdf and using iBooks.

As one of those subscribers trialling it I can confirm all the issues others have noted above
It's cr@p basically and I gave up, doesn't seem to keep me logged in and I can only view issue 77 any others it wants me to pay for

I managed to get it working for a little while before it started crashing. If you can get it sorted it will be an excellent addition to the sub package. I really like the extra pictures and videos that you get with it.
Fingers crossed the update sorts out the problems.

The way the integration works is that you will only be able to download the issues you have remaining on your subscription - so if you subscribe and activate your link to the App you will be able to download the next 8 issues. But you can't go back and download the back issues through the App. We can't do that as we get charged by pocketmags for each download. We can afford the cost of downloads if they are restricted to the next 8 but not if that includes the previous 76 as we'd be paying way more than you have paid us for the sub in the first place.

When issue 78 is released it will be available for you to download through the app.

We are working with pocketmags on fixing the bugs that have been reported to us by the trial users. If there are any other trial users reading this can you feedback directly to patrick@singletrackworld.com rather than on this thread as your feedback may be missed otherwise.

Hopefully by thursday we will have a new version of issue 77 uploaded that may resolve the issues that current version is causing.

maybe it's an iOS 6 thing then. I have a first gen iPad and although it was a little painful to get on once it's on it seems to work just fine and that includes the little vids as well. Worth persevering with imho as I find it easier to work with than the pdfs

'Persevering' isn't really good enough. So we will keep working on it until it's good enough.

As someone who purchased my annual subscription through the app I'm pretty pissed of it with all to be honest. I not been able to get the latest issue to load for more than 15 minutes in the 'app', and that 15 minutes gave me access to a really horrible reading experience. The text is horrible and grainy, and what's with that page animation thing?

Even more frustrating is the lack of contact from PocketMags. I logged an email with them 10 days ago an I've not heard anything. The linking of my app subscription to my Singletrack account hasn't happened yet, so basically I'm unable to access a product I'm subscribed to. Brilliant...

I use it on a blackberry playbook and it won't talk to my blackberry ID. I csam open the trial issues but not actualy buy anything. Based on the above that might be a good thing!
