can you get them?

do they have a particular name?

I've seen the circlip ones that open up when you squeeze but does anyone make a pair with standard jaws?

Best place to start would be Snap on or Mac. Not cheap, but last a lifetime.

I've got a pair for opening earrings.

I've seen them described as "ring opening pliers" or "ball closure pliers", though I'd perhaps not want to google either of those terms from work.

Eg, http://www.wildcat.eu/shop/product_info.php?products_id=961

I use to use these to open up heat shrink sleeves to put them over power connectors.

Their official name is 'Fanny Stretcher'.
