One of the younger SRs is finishing up his undergraduate dissertation and needs as many responses as possible to his survey on autonomous vehicles as it relates to cyclists.

Would you be kind enough to follow this link and fill it out? It should only take a moment.

Thank you!

Done - couple of flaws in it tho.  If you are a non car driver several questions you cannot answer.  Still went thru tho.  Just the design of the survey makes it odd having to leave questions blank without any option to say "none"

Done - it is an interesting topic and made me think about various scenarios. I would be interested in seeing a summary of the results and conclusions that are drawn from them.

If nothing else I'd like to applaud him for his (seemingly increasingly vanishingly rare) ability to string a coherent sentence together.

Every time this sort of request pops up on the Internet (here, Facebook, many other places) a return question is often asked, "can we see the finished product?" Despite many promises I've yet to see this ever happen. Could he break the mould, can we read it when he's finalised it please?

I did not enjoy the age grouping he has chosen.

I'm no where near 44.

Could’ve applied some of the logic of Google forms to provide an easier form journey. Though recognising that may not have been part of the brief or may have been discouraged.

The free text for the ‘what automation does your car have’ could be a challenge for analysis.

self-driving cars in the ‘near future’, that made me smile.

One of mine is hoping that he may be working on autonomous cars in the future - mechatronics and autonomous control systems undergraduate currently.

Thank you to everyone who has done the survey so far. @Cougar, I will send the link to this thread to SR jnr so that he can properly respond, and you all might see the results.

As for the flaws in the survey, I think he is aware of them, but I’m sure he will appreciate the feedback.

In the meantime, please keep your responses coming!

Done. Would be keen to see the results / dissertation. I feel like a true luddite when it comes to autonomous cars.

Question about what kind of car you drive could usefully allow more than one answer.

Autonomous cars – the sooner the better!

In the words of cycle campaigners everywhere, "fewer cars not newer cars".
