Hoping to take the family to Paris for a few days, any suggestions where to stay? Will be driving there, so ideally somewhere with reasonable easy access from the North, near a Metro station (assume best way to get around?). Was thinking of Clichy, does it take long to get to the tourist bits from there? Is it a reasonable area for restaurants etc?

Also whats the Metro like in the evenings, safe to take kids upto 10pm?

Mugged or pick pocketed?

I like the Première Class at Pont de Suresnes, Suresnes being a village within the town with nice bars etc. It's opposite the Bois de Boulogne which is pleasant for jogging and dubious activity spotting. It's a bus ride into the centre or RER via La Défence.

As it involved physical contact I would call it mugged but others may disagree.

Don't be put of Paris by that, there are plenty of other fantastic areas. My favourite is the Latin quarter and this brilliant restaurant:

I usually stay at Mama Shelter, out near the famous cemetery, whose name escapes me
