Killiecrankie made me laugh the other day.

Those of you who have driven from Vancouver to whistler will be familiar with Furry Creek?

Because despite living a few miles away for many years, I never knew the pronunciation (hint: there's only two syllables in the correct name).
And they say it's Welsh that's difficult to pronounce. ๐Ÿ˜†

I was just looking at a potential ride route today, passing through Thickwood and Blue Vein. It also goes through Box which, in the context of this forum thread and the combination of the aforementioned place names, is highly amusing.

If you'd extended the ride to include Yatton Keynell, you'd have found Tiddlywink.
Box happens to be where Real World recording studios are, and Womad's headquarters, Peter Gabriel living just along the valley.
Slaughterford is close to Thickwood, although the name means 'the ford where the sloe trees grow'.
An area I know very well indeed.

There's a Crescent near where I live, but it's not a Crescent, it's a Close. It's full of old peoples' flats and it's named after the church across the road. St. Peter's Church. When they built it someone obviously decided that a street full of old people being called "St. Peter's Close" wasn't on, so they called it a Crescent instead.
