Been quite a while since I checked this thread out, and loads of outstanding photos to look at, as someone said, there are many amateur photographers who are far better than many professional photographers out there.
I can't ever hope to match the efforts of many here but I'm pleased with some of my efforts, I don't do post processing as a rule, maybe a bit of gentle cropping, because there's always something else to do.

The last hint of sun.
Not ideal, the tops of the trees, but there was no other vantage point available.

[IMG] [/IMG]

iPhone pic, I didn't bother taking my camera fossil hunting at Charmouth.

[IMG] [/IMG]

I've got loads of photos of this building, there's just something about it I find appealing. It looks like it's leaning, the horizon is level, but I'm not sure if the lighthouse is actually leaning backwards.

Same time, same day.

Classic Parisienne street shot. Not remotely Bresson-esque but I like it nevertheless.

Every Easter we have an Italian festival in the Horsham and the town centre is swamped with exotic Italian machinery. I'm not really into automotive photography, but I like to see the details so here are a few to share:

It's not a great photo (could have cropped closer to the person, lighting a little bland, but the person had gone by the time the light improved) and I don't usually like including people in my photos, but there was something serendipitous about this one:

DrJ love these. But if you get the chance again, can I suggest a possibly great location for a subsequent shoot.

There is a tunnel that links the beach front with the other side of the main road that runs along the front. It's worn and shabby looking but would be great for a shoot like this.

Thanks geetee - I value your comment!!

In fact I think I know the tunnel you mean as I stood in it for ages to get off the beach - the main road being closed for the marathon!!

This is a genuine 'street portrait' but the model, Barbara, was very animated and much more willing to explore different poses.

I'm not sure if I've overdone it a little here. Her skin tone was very clean and pale and her hair quite dark. I spot metered for her face and then added two thirds of a stop to exagerate the brightness as I wanted to give her a 'vampish' look. I think i've definitely got that, I'm just not sure if it's too much; her face is quite bright and illuminated relative to the overall exposure.

Greg, to respond to your last post (Barbara), I don't think there's any problem with how you've lightened her face. I think where it doesn't work for me is that her hands are darker than her face. If they were the same tone it would, IMO, look better.
