So whilst in Chamonix in February I lost my mobile phone, a Nokia 6700 could get just about everything I need on it, except maybe using it as a wifi hub.
Now its time to replace it but what with ?
Nexus 4 - one of the top Android phones, unfettered by manufacturer gubbins, yours off contract and delivered next day for under £280 at http://play.google.com.
A posh phone or a boot sale special for riding with?
budget?
ive got a huawei ascend g300 and for a hundred quid its very impressive
Nokia Lumia 620 - best balance of budget v performance...

I'm with the 620 idea, though I have a 520. It's too slippery, and I miss the oleophobic coating off the screen.
May I also humbly ask you to consider the materials used to make the phone, and where they come from. LG, maker of the current Nexus phones has a bad track record of tracing their supplies to ensure there is no conflict-fuelling material in them.

huawei ascend g300, for £100 its awesome
Biggest difference between the Lumia 520 and 620 is Nokia's Drive app.
The 520 comes with Drive which is local maps only for its Sat Nav software (which is just brilliant by the way), the 620 comes with Drive+ which is worldwide mapping.
Note the more expensive 720 only comes with local drive also.

Some good ideas there, current one is a 6100 😳 Which I'll be using when I give back my company Blackberry [which is crap]
It will be for occasional access to the WWW but mostly calls and texts.
