I purchased a night CD slot magnetic mount for the phone recently, dead chuffed with it. Only issue is that since then my android pay hasn't worked. I assume this is the magnet (on the mount) or metal plate (stuck to rear of phone) that is interfering with the NFC. Are there any fixes for this other than stopping using the mount?
It might be the plate, depends where it is on the back of the phone in relation to the position of the NFC/RFID chip antenna, really. I've got a pretty powerful magnet stuck to the back of my phone's Otterbox case, which goes with a Nite-ize Steelie dash mount, it's about as big as a 10p piece and has no affect on using Apple Pay, so it's hard to say.
Unlikely that the magnet is the issue, as that's in the car, and the magnet is on my phone which doesn't appear to cause any significant issues when using it pay for stuff. If the metal plate covers the back of your phone, rather than a small area in the centre, then it may block the signal enough to stop it reading effectively.
Caveat: I'm no bloody expert!
