We will be in touch
Hi
phone is currently ripping through data. I just surf web for about 30 mins per day. Never went anyway near my allowance.
However now now I get warnings in the first few days of the month.
Ive turned off data useage for apps but something is eating away at the allowance.
any help would be appreciated
Mike
Can you check data usage by app in the settings?
iPhone?
Open Settings->Mobile Data then scroll down and see which Apps are eating it all.
(there is probably something very similar on Android)
Do you use a podcast app? I spotted the other day that one of them (Podcast Addict? Maybe) has had loads of negative reviews on the Play Store recently for hoovering up data, seems there's a problem with their advert network.
Most Android (unless Samsung sh*try overlay) = settings - data - more settings
Gives you a list of what is using what data.
Sorry iPhone, I’ll try the above.
thanks
Samsung/Android

I’m in the same boat - old contract was 4GB a month, never came close, I get 16GB a month now and usually run out.
You need a 'p' next to your singletrack username 😉

Do you have no WiFi??
I've got 6gb and I've been streaming WC live, Radio 5, 6 music etc and can't get through it.
Even when away with work and no WiFi I'd struggle to get through 10gb in a month. Should be able to sort usage by app and see what is going on
Check if it is set to update apps automatically. That can use quite a lot of data. You should be able to set it to only update apps over wifi.
Do you have no WiFi??
Cetainly do, but it’s a bit patchy in my house so ‘WiFi Assist’ uses a bit, Apple Music seems to use 5gb a month.
TBH my phone gets hammered all day with work so I’m not massively surprised and I don’t pay the bills, the leap from 4 to 16GB 18 months ago was odd.
check you are not syncing stuff to 'the cloud' over mobile i.e google photos/videos etc.
Are you using mobile hotspot? That can hoover data at a scary rate.
Apple Music seems to use 5gb
Blimey. Does it not set to download on WiFi, or is this a streaming thing?
Do check - on Android I have data saving on Chrome, can set music to download on WiFi, or if it does stream to use lower quality to save data, same with YouTube (default is HD, I switch it lower), emails etc only download when I refresh etc.
I use about 1gb, most of time below, through combination of using wifi at home and office, and keeping data low.
Cut down on your porn habit?

My data syncs to iCloud, but only over Wi-Fi.

I've got a few play lists that are downloaded, but I stream stuff other peoples playlists all the time when I'm out and about.

Maybe, I have needed new glasses recently actually.
For reference, I reset the counter 13 hours ago, I've 435MB of data since.
The geezer who trolls our whatsapp riding group with endless 'funny' videos doesn't help.
TBH, whilst it's a lot (you should see what Virgin says we get through a month!) I only have to buy more data 2/3 times a year so it's no biggie and we do spank them in work, I usually have to charge it twice a day.
@hammy7272 - go to Settings - Mobile Data and scroll to the bottom. Make sure Wi-Fi Assist is turned off.
If it is on the phone will switch from wifi to mobile data if the wifi signal is weak but it doesn't tell you it is doing so.
Also make sure iCloud Drive is off as this will use data to transfer files/photos.
While you are in Mobile Data settings it's worth going through the list of Apps that can use mobile data and turning off whichever ones you don't need or want to use mobile data.

Christ. That's about my monthly usage.
