Anyone been up there recently? Still lots of snow? Quite fancy getting the boots on this weekend for a change, especially since our lovely crisp snowy trails are probably now a foot deep mudbath...

Went walking in the Dales this last weekend on Saturday. Walked up from Winterburn, from the reservoir up to Weets Top and down to Calton. Conditions were fun, thigh deep drifts in places. Intended to go up Ingleborough and am glad we walked where we did, it was so quiet and didn't see anyone beyond Winterburn. I imagine conditions over on PyG will be similar, suspect by the weekend there will still be some snow on the ground but not like this weekend. The snow on the roads round Skipton beginning to melt now.

I was there (PyG) on Sunday - walking as no one else wanted to ride - it was mostly about 9" of snow, often with a frozen crust which crumbled when you stepped on it, so very sloggy

I've been up on PYG most days for the last week or so, climbing the snow and ice routes. It's been amazing. I was there yesterday and conditions were pretty wild but some of the frozen turf is beginning to soften slightly. Still plenty of snow though.

It was thawing there last night. Still haven't been able to get the car home since 17 December though.

Looks like it Simon

Chris: Rode by your place on NYE but looked deserted. Slippy enough on the bike never mind a car.

I think we were in but lying low!

The lane below Low Bark (between the walls) has drifts at +1m deep. We have opened up a way across through the fields and now only go up in the Landrover. The cars are left by the road.

It was +1 degree last night and should be most of this week so I guess a very slow thaw, feeling very wet on the ground and forecast to thaw properly starting at the weekend.
