This is a pic of me with mum and dad, cousin and a couple of family friends, some time ago...
Can anyone work out where on winnats pass it was taken? I've been up and down with street view. I feel a recreation is on the cards! Im in the area soon so I'll have to go and look.
One of the fellas looks like Michael Weatherly from ncis. Mum is pregnant with my brother. 50 years ago. Apparently we got there in a Bedford CA van.

Here - the 'shelf' above this ladies head, but looking East/opposite of this shot.

It may even be the (now hidden and locked) entrance to the dead end Blue John cave. Not the one you all know, the one the cavers know and limit access to...
But fairly confident it's Winnats...ish. Maybe.

On your original, is that a pair of hikers next to a steep path in the top right? Back in 72 with much smaller population and fewer cars, only the really major paths and old packhorse trails were so well defined. I can’t think of a side trail that goes up from Winnats like that. Leads me to think more of Cavedale or even somewhere close to the current Mam Tor car park with a path up onto the ridge.
