2 adult renewals and one child first passport with check and send £230 odd 😥

How the **** can a renewal cost the same as a first passport?

There are fewer checks for renewals. However remember you're not paying for a specific product - your fees are funding the organisation as a whole.

Stop moaning.

hardly. do you not notice how much your childs face changes every 3 months or so until theyre about 4/5?

photo reference (even if you could get a perfect one) is pretty useless. Just adds massively to the cost. Should be able to add up to a5yrs old to both parent's passport for £10 rubber stamp based on birth cert. A new one costs £50 and has to be done again at 5yrs for another £50.

So why d'you think they decided to have them? Cos they were bored one day?

Btw they are a bit better trained than the casual 'oh that looks like you' glance that you or I might give.

Lil Grips is still recognisable from her picture if you look carefully, bout 20 months later.

Don't be daft. If they wanted to raise funds they'd just stick the prices of normal ones up. That's what they usually do. There's no competition after all.

There's the Queen promising to look after you while you are travelling and make all foreigners quake in their boots if they dare hinder you. Cheap at half the price I say....

It's all those drunken Brits abroad requiring consular services when they fall foul of the local police officers.

Just to be a pedant for a minute, IPS is an executive agency of the Home Office and consulates are part of the FCO, aren't they? Passport issuing is on a user pays principle - is there an arrangement for transfer of part the fee to the FCO to cover expenses incurred in overseas passport issue?

Overseas passport issue is fantastically expensive now and is being privatised and regionalised, so often your passport has to be sent away out of the country you're living in (and which may require you to carry a passport...). 😐

I'm glad my company pays for my passports, since I've had 2 new ones in the past 6 months 😯

Cheers, Rich

Sorted it for ya!

Or are you an international drug runner?

£7.75 a yr for a passport is a bargain IMHO

Better off doing renewals on line. Gets rid of the need for check and send, which as I can vouch for is not a guaranteed service!

But don't they then send the form for you to sign that you have to then post back?
That just seems to have added a step to the process, I've just done the whole families again, simple matter of popping the forms in the post and the passports arrived 10 days later

I don't see any need for check and send for most people

Yup they send you the form but all printed out, then all thats required for the most inept person is to sign inside the box!
