just got a £50 car parking ticket, pulled into a disabled space for 5 mins and came out to find it. private eye is a private parking firm and apparently illegal in their activity . have been told not to pay the fine, what does everyone think?
Are you actually disabled and therefore eligible to use such a space?
no my daughter needed to use a toilet, although not an excuse,i was in the wrong pulling into the space. ive been told they cant enforce the penalty and the ticket is merely an invoice ? ?
what sort of disabled bay? On the public highway or in a supermarket?
Ignore everything they send you. Don't contact them. Don't pay anything.

If it is an invoice is it a (very expensive) invoice for services you took (parking) without checking the price for the space (obviously different to the rest, it is marked differently)? Just wondering if that is their starting point if people don't just pay up.
I have no experience or information though, as is probably obvious.
It always seems possible to wriggle out of these bills though...
There's no need to wriggle.
Do not, and I mean do not, contact them. they'll send a few letters then go away.
yeah thats what ive been told just ignore them and everything they send you. just dont want to end up paying a load of money out in the end. it was a disabled bay on a retail park (ikea) where do i stand legally? is there any risk in not paying? ta
forgot to add theres a load of cameras eveywhere as well
Cameras are irrelevant.
There are multiple reasons why PPCs can't enforce their "invoices" but they rely on intimidation and the fact that Joe Public doesn't realise it's all a scam.
Ask the question on Pepipoo if you need further reassurance.
FWIW I've got a shoe box containing about £20,000 worth of invoices from a private parking company and I've never paid a penny despite receiving hundreds of letters from fake lawyers and debt collectors. Zero impact on my credit rating.
Ignore them and put the £50 in a charity box as a lesson to yourself?
boardinbob thanks for all the advice think im gonna spend the money on bike bits then. lesson learned though!
