Anybody know why my employers would give me a p45 but i still have a job? They have said it is about joining some of the companies together to save tax. They have explained that everything will be same pensions conditions and pay but it all seems a bit odd. I think we could turn up on monday and the gates are closed!!

There are a lot of very good reasons why this would happen - if the two companies had separate payrolls then it makes sense to amalgamate at the end of the tax year so that there's only one PAYE scheme to administer.

HMRC cannot cope with transferring employment from one organisation to the other, the most elegant solution is by supplying a P45.

Have you checked the structural integrity of your coat peg?

Best time to do it is now...if they did it in December I'd worry, but otherwise you'll be fine IMHO.

I've had this at work when transferring from one operating company to another. It's odd, as effectively you leave then get employed by the other company. All benefits were made continuous though so it didn't make a difference.

Check that your name hasn't been removed form the April edition of the internal phone list.

+3 on continuity of service. It's really important.
