My years old telly snuffed it last night so I nipped into my nearest Richer Sounds and bagged a BFO plasma and blu-ray player this afternoon (total cost less than my old telly cost on its own 10 years ago)
Right - as the telly packed in unexpectedly I havent got round to getting anything ready for it
I have regular Sky which actually looks OK and apart from the new shiny blu-ray player absolutely no Blu-ray discs
I have a gazillion DVDs but wanted to see what HD was like so nipped into town to buy a BR disc on the spur of the moment, not wanting to duplicate my DVDs I bought the first thing I saw that the family agreed on which we didnt already have
It was only on the way home that I realised that the Wizard of Oz (from 1939) may not have been an inspired choice for showing my new telly off it its best
I kid you not
It was kind of OK but a 1939 movie isnt going to be great no matter how much remastering it has and isnt even widescreen although it was full HD
So Im kind of feeling a little lost with my new telly and need to buy a Blu-ray disc tomorrow from town to prove to me I made the right choice going HD
What would you recommend to blow my socks off with fantastic whatever it is Blu-ray and HD tellys do?
In the meantime Im off to play.com to work out what to buy at a decent price - but one disc from town to actually play tomorrow would be appreciated
Cheers!
The Dark Knight?
