Can anybody tell me what I need to do to get my Ubuntu display the wonderful movies of You Tube? I use Firefox as the browser. Important - in layman's terms please.
Cheers!

In laymans terms - you need adobe flah plugin.

You should get a 'you need flash' or similar where there would be a movie. click and follow the link.

For less layman but still easy.

Select Linux, and I think it's Deb.

But, in fairnes, nothing is layman in Ubuntu land...

open up a terminal window and type:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

worked for me last week when I installed a newer linux flavour on my netbook

Loving it - quick, every bit of info available either here or google, bags of add-ons and no problems with drivers. Mind you, I don't play games demending a lot from it, only a Mahjong or similar.
I'd say if you want the web, email and office plus Skype - lovely. If you fancy more - I don't know, too stupid me.

Does it not have a nice 'install software' item on the main menu anymore? Dunno why people recommend using the terminal when there is a perfectly good gui.
Too easy i suppose, but then that is the linux way 🙂

Probably as it's stupidly easy to do it either way and if you use the terminal others think you know what you're doing 😉
Still, it's nicer than Windows so far.

Mint Mint Mint Mint!

Linux Mint is a very nice, Ubuntu based Linux distro that comes with all the codecs and drivers you'll need already in place.

Its pretty too.
