Possibly handbrake (can't recall if it does Xvid/Divx but it does do a lot of formats and might make an AVI that works).

MPEG Streamclip?

EDIT: yes, it'll work. Here are instructions, too:

for future searches,

I ended up buying the DivX decoder from Divx.com. It's £8. It's worked. It's bloomin simple to use (just drag files in to a screen and hit the go button), it's also quick (10-15 mins per 1gb or thereabouts). It will do DVD's, Blueray, and pretty much any file type you can think of and then put it into a format that is suitable for whichever device.

Cheers for suggestions above, but they proved to be an arse either slow, or you needed itunes/quickplayer installed to get them to work.

Sui.

Similarly, what's best to convert mp4 to DVDs?
Recorded a week's worth of CBBC on the Humax ready for the summer road-trip. I've got the programmes off as ts files and converted to MP4 using Handbrake, but I can't remember what's next (I've done it before)
