out of the mouths of babes and all that..
I didn't expect you to be so afear'd of the truth Mol?
no idea how you came to those conclusions from a 4 year old asking a question.
It's more based on the attitude of the father. JY is a nice guy but has a real nasty streak when it comes to overweight people for some reason.

from what he wrote its what I would have said. I'm completely honest with my kids.
That's fine, but there's a line between being honest and being rude/unpleasant.
Nice straw man.
I think you are confused between sarcasm and a straw man tbh

????? I accept i can be , abrasive as molly kindly puts it *, but i have no idea what leads you to that conclusion.
I have no idea what I have done to give that impression and i sincerely apologise. I have no issue at all with overweight folk. Why would i ?
As for molly's point
I tried to ignore him but what did you want me to do?
hey you cannot say that in front of them whilst we were in front of them? The situation was beyond rescuing so either i could be honest with my son or embarrassed and make him feel bad. I chose the former
If he was rude to someone who was overweight i would be unimpressed by this behaviour and he would be in trouble
TBH I just thought it was one of those funny out of the mouths of babes comments and did not expect it to be debated nor cause offence
Again I am sorry
* even that sounds abrasive[ shitty] but it is a kind way of saying it and I mean it

kid - are they fat because they eat too much and not do enough exercise?
Parent - yes
that's not rude and unpleasant its the truth, its why I'm a bit porky lol

I'm not.

Yes. If the person hears you admonish the kid they are likely to understand it as one of those awkward things kids say. If you just answer and make nothing of it then you as an adult are complicit in it.
The fat person knows they eat too much and don't exercise, probably, but they don't need to be made to feel worse about it by strangers. I would have explained to the kid LATER that they were probably correct.
But I have sympathy with JY as you don't always think of what to say at the time and he wasn't deliberately being rude I'm sure.

Did you forget where you posted it? ๐
Mol is it ridiculous to object to exploitative marketing, poor treatment of employees , poor quality food , mal treatment of animals and poor hygiene.
I am one of those sanctimonious gits who believes the only effective vote I get is where I spend my cash . I won't spend mine in McD's and don't want to have rows with a toddler who has been intoduced to high gat high sugar and high salt junk. Even MCC's executives won't let their children eat there.
I once ate at McDs, still have a resting heartrate of 49 bpm.
Wonder when that big mac will kill me to death.

Do you actually know any of these things or are you just reiterating internet stuffs?
As for toddler and junk food, mine have been introduced to it. They have also have had nutrition and self control explained to them, since you can't shield them from junk food forever.
Yes I know have friends and clients who work there.
Actually you can easily shield toddlers from bad food for ever that is the beauty of toddlers they can't out run you and by law they need constant adult supervision. It is when they cease to be toddlers that the debate begins.

JY - No lying has actually knowingly been involved (yet) in the eating of this cheeseburger*. We're sort of taking our lead from the US armed forces policy on gayers: Don't Ask. Don't Tell
He said gayers, this thread must have life left in it yet.
