Awesome film. A brilliant book too. The Author was injured 15times on the Eastern front. Going back a few years I researched the Eastern Front- there were a fair few German battlefield 'Heroes' who were highly decorated (not the Vietnam Purple Heart scenarios). They fought and defeated vast Russian numbers but then they too were eventually killed and quickly forgotten.

Book by Guy Sajer
Is a good read too if you like that sort of thing. I got it bought for me last century, got round to reading it a couple of years ago.
