Would the shipping status page from amazon class as a proof of purchase in the UK? I figure if a carrier bag does, then that surely must

Anything showing where/who you bought something from is evidence (doubt a shopping bag would necessarily be sufficient in itself tho).

Problem/context???

Got an ipod touch which is faulty, no wifi signal, well known fault. According to the serial number it was made week 51 of 2008. According to apples system is was sold to amazon in may 2007, i got it as a gift in may 2009, have tried to return it to istore but they say apple system says out of warranty and despite me having this printout they cant do anything, so got me to fill in an online form for apple USA and send off an image of the amazon page. Apple USA say its not good enough as its not a valid proof of purchase. I cant get anything else as POP as it was a gift, and were no longer talking to each other.

https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

enter in the serial and see if it is under warranty still.

Q7. Do I have to produce a receipt to claim my rights?

No. In fact the trader doesn't have to give you a receipt in the first place so it would be unfair to say that you had to produce one. However, it might not be unreasonable for the shop to want some proof of purchase, so look to see if you have a cheque stub, bank statement, credit card slip etc., and this should be sufficient.

The contract is with amazon not apple usa, ( is amazon a uk retailer????)

Gonna be a struggle but what you have should be enough I would have thought. Ultimatly it would be up t a court to decide

try consumer direct more more advice

Unless the serial was recorded at time of purchase that is a pretty useless feature.

Warranty starts from the time of purchase. Not time of manufacture.

Amazon have to sort this for you , not Apple. If you bought it within the correct warranty period then amazon must deal with it.

But the contract is between the purchaser and vendor. It was only given to you. You'll be lucky IMHO.

Yeah this is why im kinda up shit creak. The amazon slip has the end of her credit card number on it so surely this is a POP. This is why i was hoping the genius bar would sort me out as theyre meant to be so useful. If i can tell apple usa that in the UK this is a valid POP under my consumer rights then hopefully they'll sort it, but, they may just say well if you know your consumer rights so well, bugger off to where your contract is.

What i may have to end up doing is some photoshp jiggery pokerey on a amazon receipt.
