fewer stickers and maybe a lamp or two off the front, though.

.....whilst leaning over the great white telephone, in a desperate plea to communicate with Hughie or Ralph.

There's a nice car there behind all the deformities.

Ah, the near legendary Rote Sau.

Big, brutal and awesome. Served it's retirement as a test bed for fighter jet landing gear!

😀 @ Klunk!

It's supposed to be ugly, it's a racing car, not a posers car - 'purposeful' is really what it is.

It appears home made, has AMG written on it, and looks like a recipe for death.

Is WCA back at work yet?

Absolutely love it!

Dread to think about the parts prices though... Some bits are expensive for a standard W123 coupé.

Have to say though that our local Merc dealer is incredibly helpful and that some parts are very reasonable.

I would be proud to have made that beast!

Modern AMG are a bit tamer. The AMG SLK55 has a 5.5 litre engine and only kicks out 354bhp. My current looney tuned version is the Klemann S8 SLK. Back in the spirit of the early AMGs although a little more understated.

Imagine that in the rear view mirror!

Julian, did I spot yours out of the corner of my eye the other day?

Quite possibly CFH, we did drive past yours a couple of times the other day.

She's great: getting a few things sorted out and it's all looking good. Just another seven grand or so and she'll be perfect. Currently returning about 20 mpg. Soooo nice to drive!

Went to Mercedes Benz World yesterday and saw this thing in the metal.

Awesome.

The 300SL Gullwing is pretty nice too, as are the 190SL and the 280SL (which is the one driven by Jodie Kidd in the title sequence of the Classic Car Show).

Great afternoon out (free entry) and right next door to the Brooklands Museum.
